The Mixed Marvel Arts Podcast celebrates their fifth anniversary by hosting their first official interview with industry insiders. Eric and Julia Lewald, two of the creators behind Fox’s highly influential X-Men: The Animated Series, join Brian and Shaun to discuss the process of bringing Marvel’s merry mutants to the small screen. In addition to the behind-the-scenes look at the first season, Eric honestly details his limited history with the source material and Julia expresses her affections for the brainy, blue Beast. Brian and Shaun add their own twist to the conversation by applying the Mixed Marvel Arts’ Fantasy Comic League rules to the show’s main characters. To the surprise of nobody, Storm proves to be the most dominating and powerful character in the first season. In the end, Eric and Julia share how the groundbreaking series influenced the live action X-Men movies. Episode artwork: DVD box art for X-Men: The Animated Series, volume 1 by David Nakayama.
